Stakeholders Preaches Peace As OYSIEC Holds Awareness Campaign In Oyo And Environs

Stakeholders in Oyo town and its  environs have called on  politicians and entire citizens of the State to shun violence  during the forth coming Local Government council elections.

The Akibio of Ilora, Oba Stephen Olufemi Oyeniyi, Oparinde (ii) and former Chairman, Oyo East Local Government, Hon. Azeez Tirimisiyu,   made the call at stakeholders’ meeting via public awareness   campaign of  OYSIEC, held at, Afijio, Oyo East,  Oyo West  and Atiba Local  Government Areas of the State.

Oba Oyeniyi,  equally  admonished members of all  political parties in the town to  see themselves as family, who should cooperate  for economic and political growth of the area, particularly during the election .

Hon. Azees also  enjoined the leadership of Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission ( OYSIEC),   to seek necessary support from INEC and abide by the rules guiding conduct of Local Government council elections  to prevent litigations after  the polls.

The Chairman, Oyo State Independent Electroral Commission, Aare Isiaka Abiola Olagunju, SAN, represented by one of the commissioners, Comrade Afees Adeniyi, reiterated  the commitment of the commission to free, fair and  transparent Local Government Council  elections.

Chief Kunmi Agboola, while speaking on behalf of the commission at Afijio Local Government, said the campaign became necessary to update stakeholders’ in the zone  with necessary information and also gain public confidence ahead of the forth coming Local Government Council elections in the State .

In their separate remarks, the Caretaker Chairmen, Oyo East and Afijio Local Governments,   Hon. Saheed Arowosaye and Hon. Okeleye Gbenga respectively, pledged to give the commission  necessary support.
