Mandate

To conduct, organize and supervise all elections to Local Government Councils in the State in accordance with the provision of this law or any other enactment, regulations, guidelines, rules or manuals issued or made by the Electoral Commission; thereof.
To render such advice as it may consider necessary to the Independent National Electoral Commission on the compilation and the registration for the Local Government Election in the State.
To make provisions for offences and their penalties.
To provide guidelines for educating the electorates and the public in general on the conduct and procedure guiding the Local Government Elections in the State.
