Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission was established by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission Law 1999, pursuant to section 197 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which establishes State Independent Electoral Commission. As a result; His Excellency, Alhaji (Dr.) Lamidi Onaolapo Adesina inaugurated the first Independent Electoral Commission in the State on 4th January, 2000
